It was a pleasure to work with Jody on the planning, and the two gentlemen who took care of us the night of the event were amazing. They paid particular attention to my daughter, who was the guest of honor.The food was terrific, too! Save room for the Nutella pizza.

Stopped by for lunch with a buddy. We started out with a fantastic spinach soup. My Regina Margherita pie with San Marzano tomatoes and Buffalo mozzarella was exceptionally good and my friend was very happy with his gluten free pizza with sausage and broccoli rabe. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive! We skipped dessert but the options were enticing!

Had amazing pizza tonight  Crema di Pistaccio.  It is a pistaccio pesto  with crumbled sausage and fresh mozzarella all on an crust of perfection. Authentic Neapolitan pizza.  With the real deal oven. Service was excellent too. The restaurant was kind of dead due to a bad rainstorm but our server did not snooze!

This is actually my third review of Amano over the years. I have always been a fan since Amano was first originated and Robert explianed to me how he brought over the concept of Neapolitan pizza from Italy, first to New York and then to Ridgewood NJ. As fate would have it, Interestingly, When Robert reopened his pizzeria in New York in the Village he sold Amano to another gentleman, also named Robert, who​ was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and happened to live in my town.  On his way home, he honored me a few times, by bringing pizza and delivering it himself.  When Amano​ had another new owner, a few years later, I immediately wanted to try it again. I tried to order a few times and I was amazed when, once again, I was offered delivery as an option since​ I am about 30 minutes away during an evening​ on a weekend. Impressed, I ordered immediately and could not wait​ to try the new pizza. The pizza arrived about 30 minutes​ later on a busy Friday​ night​. I was impressed and then I was greeted​ by a tall, eloquent, soft spoken gentleman who was very concerned​ that I eat the pizza, as quickly as possible, to preserve the authenticity​ of the Neapolitan​ pie. We began talking about the culinary world and then spoke about music. Before long we were making plans to play music with his brother who played saxophone. I asked this dignified, amicable well-dressed​ gentleman what his name was and he said his name​ was John. We spoke about​ the two previous owners of Amano who had been named Robert​ and I affably stated that I would call the new owner of Amano​ and I would give a great report about his exemplary customer service, intelligence, concern for the style and Neapolitan​ integrity​ of the food. John told me    he was the new owner of Amano. I smiled and said​ then he would be the third owner I had befriended from Amano. He smiled back and said he wanted the previous owners to be proud of the progress he felt​ he was making as the new owner and restauranteur​. He explained that the food was so perfectly​ on time because​ he was​ concerned over the integrity of the food and wanted it to be perfect, therefore he delivered​ it himself. That night I told the story on Facebook and emailed the Amano Website. This place is heaven!!! Literally one of my favorite authentic pizza places! They have the best margarita pizza with the best mozzarella cheese! The crust is perfect and not too much. The ratio of pizza sauce to cheese is perfection! They have other pizza too and I honestly can't complain about any! Service is great and it's a BYOB. If you have a party of more than 15, they can seat you easily upstairs. We went for a friend's birthday and it was a great time. Everyone brought a bottle of wine (it's byob) and we spent close to 2.5 hrs there enjoying ourselves. When we have gone on our own, we loved sitting outside with our baby in the stroller in the summer time. Make sure you come back in for a sorbet or a cannoli from their dessert selection!

The pizza comes super quick and depending on where you're seated, you can watch them make it. Their gelato is incredible btw! Also, fyi, it is byob. Def give this place a try!.

After making a visit to this restaurant back in late January, we had submitted an earlier review where the food was sublime, but the atmosphere and the service left some things for improvement. In all fairness, when the owner John reached out to us to make amends, and made a generous offer for us to come as his guest to make it right, we finally returned this evening to enjoy another delicious meal. Much to our delight, in addition to the food being as good, if not better than when we came in January, John ensured that our experience would be one that we would remember for a long time, from recommending a delicious bottle of German wine on the house, to urging us to leave room for the housemaid gelato at the end of the meal.  Both the caprese, and  grilled artichoke salad, along with my husband's ravioli,  and my house made tagliatelle bolognese, left us more than satisfied, and we made sure only eat half, so as to leave room for our strawberry and hazelnut gelato. During our last visit we had noticed that the music was more modern, and less traditional, and John took this feedback to heart and ensured that there were classics playing through the speakers throughout the meal, the likes of Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra. Out server Dan, presented himself like a classic Maitre D' , ensuring that every moment of our experience was a positive one. And John's wife, Jodi, was warm, and welcoming. We are certainly glad that we gave A Mano a second chance. It is a humble, relaxed family owned establishment,  with classic Italian food, that is family friendly. We will certainly return, with our son, for another wonderful meal in the future.

I have done my fair share of traveling and searching for great gluten free food, but I have to say this restaurant has THE BEST gluten free pizza I have EVER had. This was the best gluten free pizza I have ever had in my life. Living with celiac disease i have tried just about every gluten free pizza out there but i must say this was the absolute best. If you love Naples cuisine, you may love A Manos. I've been searching for Naples style pizza in NYC but A Manos is a gem in North NJ. The pizza is so very very close to the Pizza I had in Naples, which to me is the best pizza I have ever had. I love a great NYC Pizza there is nothing like NYC pizza. But Naples Pizza is different and delicious. A Manos imsaved me a trip back to Naples in the near future by giving me a food fix. Delicious and authentic. Great decor, ambience and service too.

A Mano Wood Fired Pizza is located on the corner of Franklin Avenue & Chestnut Street in Ridgewood, NJ. Their pies were delicious. We ordered the SOPRESSATA (San Marzano tomatoes, sopressata, with homemade mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, basil and extra virgin olive oil) & the TARTUFO (Truffled porcini and pecorino cheese spread, with homemade mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, parmigiano reggiano and extra virgin olive oil). Overall, the restaurant is pretty large, the decor is beautiful and the staff is very friendly.. BYOB!

Great food, great service. The manager sat us near the pizza oven on a cold and windy day which was perfect. I had the Polleto (? Might be spelling it wrong). It's a meatball panini that I was able to see being made and put into the pizza oven. It was served hot with a beautiful side salad of arugula, tomato and balsamic dressing. The panini was delicious. Just the right combination of meat, sauce and cheese making it taste amazing without being heavy. I was happy to take home the other half, as the portion was a good size, to have again for dinner. Got a taste of the vanilla gelato that the manager brought to the table as a sample. Definitely going to go back and next time save some room for dessert. The pizza menu looked amazing as well.

This is hands down the best pizza place around. I've tried every pizza on the menu, and several fantastic pasta dishes. The huge bonus is that my wife is gluten free and my wife literally dreams of their gluten free pizza. I've tried it as well just bc she swears by it and it's delicious. Try the pistachio pesto pizza, sweet potato pizza and the A Mano pizza.More than just a pizza place.

Went there for the first time last night to try their gluten free pizza which everyone has been telling me about. I have celiac disease so it is important that the restaurants understand the allergy and how to not cross contaminate the kitchen. Our waitress and the manager were very knowledgable and helpful when it came to ordering gluten free. This was by far the best gluten free pizza I ever had. My girlfriend also loved her regular style pizza. You can get all pizza options in a gluten free crust option. Which is till doughy, cooked perfectly, and tastes great. We tried the gluten free Nutella pizza dessert and even my girlfriend loved it when it was made with the gluten free dough. By far the best gf pizza in Bergen county. Will make this our go to regular pizza joint from now on. Highly recommended to all.

Amano is amazing!!  I'm GF, nut free and dairy free and as a food allergy sufferer, restaurants usually make me feel bad about having allergies or look at me like I have three heads but Amano is so attentive and willing to customize anything.  They even have a whole GF dedicated kitchen and pizza oven.  I've tried so many GF pizzas and have been disappointed with the consistency of the dough- that's NOT the case at Amano.  Their dough is light and perfect Neapolitan and every pizza I've tried there has been perfection!   Even my non-Gf fiance loves all of their GF and regular pizzas!  I've even gotten them to make me cooked doughs with no sauce or cheese to being home and use as sandwich bread for Italian sandwiches or paninis or flatbreads for apps.  Their space is also nice and big so in Ridgewood, where it can be hard to get a table for dinner, Amano's spacious restaurant can accommodate big crowds but still maintains their easy-going atmosphere.  Such a great BYOB in Ridgewood!  Definitely go!

So this review is actually for an august visit but couldn't let this place go unreviewed. The restaurant is a good size, average atmosphere, brightly lit and you are welcomed by a glass case of gelato and cakes... I think I should be greeted by dessert at all restaurants. I digress, on to the main event, their pizza is awesome.  We had the margarita, the buffalo mozzarella margarita with meatball, everything was delicious and the thin crust pizza comes out in about 4.5 minutes. Properly crusty coal fire pizza. As other reviewers have mentioned - it can get a little pricey depending on what toppings you get but I highly recommend a visit. It's always nice to have a BYO go-to spot and this will definitely be one of mine.

I'm so glad I finally got to try A Mano, I heard many good things about it from several people throughout the years. Even my boss had been recommending this place to me for a long time. Did I mention I work at an Italian restaurant/pizzeria? Yeah, it's that good!It doesn't look so big from the outside, but the inside is huge. Or maybe it just feels that way because the ceiling is like 2,874 feet tall. The decor is simple and classic, there's lots of windows to let in natural light which I enjoyed. The service was also superb, our waiter was helpful and attentive as well as personable - he even cracked a few jokes.Now for the food: The grilled artichoke salad was so yummy I very reluctantly shared it with my fam. The artichokes were lightly marinated and came on a bed of arugula with sharp, thinly sliced parmesean cheese tossed with a lemony vinaigrette. For my entree I ordered one of their specials, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Get this: portabella mushroom stuffed cheese ravioli with a garlic white wine butter sauce with sauteed spinach and sundried tomatoes. Hell. Freaking. Yes. Every bite was heaven, and I never wanted it to end. On the downside, although many hold their pizza in very high regard, IMHO I thought the pizza was just okay.A Mano definitely lives up to Ridgewood's reputation of having lovely, but freaking expensive restaurants. Looking at the prices, I figured the portions would be bigger than they were. I'm cheaps, I probably wouldn't go back unless Daddy was paying (again.) But as far as the food, service and ambiance goes - it's a double thumbs up! Or in Yelp terms, 5 stars :D

Holy Delisicousness... this is PIZZA!We were in the area and figured we would stop and get some food. We had no plans to stop here but the huge brick ovens lured us in. Its nothing fancy or out of the world, it looks like a family owned pizza joint that serves Italian food and Pizza.To our surprise they had a small selection of wine, bottles only. We went with the some white wine, and for an app we had a pear salad...OH MY! Salad was loaded with goat cheese, walnuts, and pear slices, it had a very light dressing which was perfect. We then ordered a classic margarita pizza on whole wheat since it was an option and the pesto sausage pie. Marghrita was standard, it was good, nothing to crave but then the Pesto Pizza took it home! Our waitress made the recommendation and it was perfect. Full of flavor and not too heavy. Without a doubt I would take a drive here just for this pizza.After all of that, we still had room for their homemade desserts. Yes, homemade. We had the tiramisu which we were able to sample. It was perfect! It had a little bit of a bolder mocha/coffee flavor to it which left the dessert to have the perfect balance. Not to sweet and not to bland. I'll def be finding a reason to come back here!

I really like the pizza here.  I'm gluten free and they will do any of their pizzas on a gf crust.  I really love the one with prosciutto and the one with truffle oil.  If u get a gf crust just make sure they cook it a little extra, and one suggestion to management? Dim the lights a bit.  Kinda bright in there!Customer service is good, and they serve a wine there from a local vineyard that's worth a try! I liked it, anyway.

We have been going to A Mano for years now. It's one of the few places around where you can get good, authentic Neapolitan pizza around here. The pizza is great and the salads go really well. The best deal is the 2 for 1 on Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise, the pizza is a little expensive but still worth it.

Omg.  If you enjoy Neapolitan pizza, this is simply the best.  Having said that, it is not like regular fast food pizza, so if that's what you're expecting, stay home.  It's fresh and light. I recommend the margherita and the butternut squash pies. I had the pleasure of dining here while visiting NJ (I'm from long island) Because we went during lunch time, we got one pizza for free! We went back a few days later. My sister lives close by, but even if she didn't, I'd make the hour trip just for this place.

I also have spent a lot of time in Italy growing up so when I say that this is better than some Neapolitan Pizza I have had in Naples, I mean it. Pizza in Italy is a weird thing. It is different across the different regions but definitely the best in Naples. What I love about A Mano is that all of their ingredients come from Italy. Can you get more authentic? Their logo says, "made by hand and by heart" and that couldn't be more true. "The dough is not only perfectly charred but it has the perfect amount of chew. Every single bite will excite your taste buds. My personal favorite is the Zucca Gialla (butternut squash) pizza. I used to always have the classico Panini but since giving up meat, the butternut squash pizza is my go-to. The caramelized onions, butternut squash, and mozzarella and gruyere cheese go together better than peanut butter and jelly! (I get the pizza without pancetta).  When it comes to an app, I always order the rosette (again with no meat). (**I have tried everything with meat, and it is equally delicious). The way the vegetables and cheese melt into the crust puts all real roses to shame.  On the weekends I always make sure to order their specials. The fagota, crab cakes, and watermelon gazpacho are just a few of my favorites!  The desserts are amazing too! The nutella pizza melts in your mouth, the tiramisu has you begging for more and the gelato leaves you floating on cloud nine. I could talk about this place forever so I will cut it short now, but I would like to end by saying, if you haven't been here yet, you are truly missing out!

I am in love with this pizza!! The special pizzas are awesome! We had a group of about 6 and started with the Rosette, Caprese  and Grandma's Meatballs and all were amazing! The meatballs really DO taste like Nonnas!The pizza specials that night were the fig & gorgonzola and a very different one with Salmon and avocado. So good!! If you have never had Neapolitan pizza before...the crust is light and crispy and has the smoky char flavor of the wood oven.Oh and Nutella pizza for dessert? yes please!Will be back!

Excellent experience at A Mano... We got a table right by the pizza oven. It was great seeing the cooks make the pizza.. The food was amazing we had an app, 2 pizzas, and dessert. For the appetizer we had mozzarella pinwheels with grilled veggies inside. For the entree we were just gonna have a one pie but the first pie was so good we ordered another pie. Two pies were perfect for two people. We had the Amano and the pesto di pistachio with sausage pizza both excellent. We were both full after the pizzas but we had to try the Nutella pie for dessert. Had 2 slices and boxed the rest up to take home.It is a byob place but they do have some wines you could purchase.Overall great experience.. Definitely be back soon

YES!!!! EAT HERE whenever u have the chance !! Best pizza I've ever had (even including Italy!) delicious brick oven (cooks in 90 seconds) but still chewy dough, not too crispy, which I love! Amazing mozzarella and sauce. I am a huge fan- if they delivered I might not be able to stop myself from ordering every day. On that note- they do not deliver and ridgewood is always annoying to park in however they do have a valet lot across the street. I have not tried anything but the pizza yet because it's so good. Pies are individual sized. If you are hungry you might want more than 1.

The pizza is wonderful.  A bit pricey except on the buy one get one free nights.  But on the other hand, it's BYOB, and if you bring a bottle of wine and share a pizza with a date or friend, it's a nice night out.  A quick tip regarding the pizza -- it's very thin and light, in the true Naples style, which means that lighter toppings (simple marinara, or margherita) work better than the heavier toppings (like eggplant or sausage) because the latter can weigh down the crust.

Amazing pizza!!!I was hesitant to go to this place because of the poor reviews.If you're broke don't go here. If you don't mind spending a little for a special slice, do it!If you're not assertive with your server then don't come here. My server was attentive until after we ate, figured he was trying to stall for a higher check price. But I know better!But seriously the Regina margharita is what you must try! If you love garlic, ask for fresh garlic on top. Friday night during dinner our pizza came out 10 mins after ordering!

Came here on a Friday night.  The food was absolutely amazing! The apps were perfect the pizza to die for and the nutella roll is a must for dessert.  Our server Jean Marie was so considerate and helpful. I could not speak more highly of a restaurant. We will be back for sure!

Wow!  What an amazing place!  We were there to celebrate my nephew's christening so we had the entire room by the ovens. They brought out a couple appetizers including some amazing meatballs. The sauce was incredible. I wanted to order an extra cup of it to dunk the pizza crusts!We were served four pizza, one at a time.  It was like a pizza orgy. Every taste was better than the one before. My favorite was the white pizza. The owner stopped by and chatted a bit so we learned about the history, how they bake the pizza and what kids of cheeses and meats they used. Dessert was crazy. Chocolate pizza. Seriously!!  They baked the crust but it puffed up like a balloon. It cooled a moment and then they cut it open to make two halves. From there, they scooped out a ton of Nutella and spread it on the inside. They sealed it up, sprinkled it with powdered sugar then drizzled some chocolate sauce.  It was wonderful!The staff was great!  Next time we're visiting my sister, I'll insist we stop by again!

This was the best pizza I ever had. The owners are importers of Caputo flour which is the best that you can buy. Once you have had Caputo flour you will see the difference when eating pizza made without it.

Having lived in Naples, I know what Neapolitan pizza should be. The pizza here is it. If you like this style of pizza, this is as good as it gets in North Jersey.Pizza Napolitana follows a pretty strict formula - i.e. a specific flour, San Marzano tomatoes... They follow the formula and it works.  If you like a more American style pizza you maybe disappointed. (try Roxanne's in Ramsey). The pies are smaller and pricier. However, if you want to try something new or have been to Naples and experienced the magic, this is the best around

When you see "Pizza restaurant" and some sort of takeover counter near the entrance, the rule of thumb is "not classy and possibly not so good".In that case common wisdom  is not working.Place is unique.They have extremely hot oven (900 Centigrade) and pizza sits there for just one minute. Test is fabulous! It is airy, light, every bite is a joy. But there is more to it. On the day we visit the place they had crab cake as a special. Best crab cake ever.Made with fresh crabs, not a canned thingies.Salads were light and fresh. Dressing - just a bit and just right.We also had fried calamari. Not a rubbery and overcooked as many places serve. These guys are fresh, soft and not grease. Wine - Riesling and Chardonnay complimented food. Good choice by advise of our waiter.And I can not talk enough about desert. Tiramisu was possibly the best I ever had. Ricotta cheesecake had a nice texture and was a rival to tiramisu.Bill was a bit steep but everyone agree money well spent.With wine, beverages, tax and generous tips it was about $40 per person Thank you for reading

I grew up in Bergen County and have lived here all my life, and have an establishment I visit regularly for Pizza.  Its fantastic - it is more expensive than a traditional pizza joint.I have never had trouble with the service here, and have been here several times.

Okay.  A Mano's is a very nice open spaced restaurant/pizzeria.  My girlfriend and I actually decided to eat outside. The night was just perfect for outdoor dining.I decided to not take off from the rating of this restaurant, due to the waiter who did not come outside to even take our order. It could have just been a mis-communication.   I did have to go into the place twice before we were given a waitress.  Who was wonderful.I will say that we started off with the Toscano Salad with pears, mesclun lettuce, and candied walnuts.  The crispness of the pears and the walnuts are a perfect match.  A great salad to start off a meal.Then came the pizza.  I ordered the Quattro Stagione (Four Seasons) and my girlfriend had the Margherita.  Let me tell you!  This is some great pizza!  The pizza was wonderfully chewy.  The crust was nice and puffy, with some blackened marks from their wood burning oven.  Delish!  The mozzarella, superbly orgasmic.  There is also some italian ham, neopolitan salami, eggplant, basil, parmigiano reggiano, mushrooms, and olive oil.  We're talkin some fancy smancy pizza.  Each pizza is basically for one person.  Get two different pie's and share.  Or, not!  As far as my girlfriend's pizza, hers was also delicious.  Just trust me!  Go to A Mano's and have some pizza!  You will not be disappointed!We also had the Ricotta Cheesecake for dessert.  Lemony, orange zest, and creamy.  Have a coffee or an espresso with this perfect dessert, sit in your chair, and enjoy life.  This is heaven!

Me and my husband's new spot for simple yet delicious dinner. Portions are a bit smaller than others but the quality of food makes you enjoy and please your stomach. Toscana salad is so refreshing and tasty. Margherita pie is classic and really fresh- My 2&1/2 year old daughter loves, loves it. And our favorite, homemade Lasagna is the bomb. Then finish with Gelato. Yummo.

Serious, true pizza from Naples, Italy.  Having sampled the pizza at 3 of Naples' top locations just last fall, I am confident in saying that Amano makes pizza every bit as good as the best in Naples - i.e. the best in the world.We ordered: Tartufo; Soppresatta; Regina Margherita; and Salsiccia.Fried Calamari, while clearly the most popular app going out, was fine, cooked perfectly but lacking in flavor.  But this place is all about the pizza.  FYI:  4 pizzas for 5 people was PERFECT amount.Service was very good. Lighting is a little bright, and without a big crowd, it wasn't loaded with atmosphere, but it's nice; clean; pricey but for good reason.Every visit back to NJ will now include a run to this place, I hope they make it with the sick rent in Ridgewood.

A Mano without a doubt is my favorite restaurant EVER.  No joke for the past year my family and I come here AT LEAST once a week (in fact we went there last night AND the night before).  The pizza is absolutely the most delicious thing I have ever had. I always get the margherita pizza and the fresca salad and every time I eat it I could swear that I'm in heaven.  Oh and of course after dinner I have banana and pear gelato which is the BEST I've ever had.  The waiters are always super nice and helpful and our favorite is Jimmy, who's the manager, he's the best! So if you want the best pizza you have ever tasted in your life with fresh delicious ingredients and amazing service then definitely come to A Mano. I promise that you will not be disappointed! Oh and I always leave with a bunch of leftovers :)

The best fresh pizza round. Came here with a friend on a Monday and the pies were buy-one-get-one-free--great deal. We ordered the a mano pie and vesuvio. The pizza came straight out of their TWO wood-burning ovens, crispy and cooked to perfection. I even had it for leftovers the next day. The only bad thing I would say is not enough cheese :( I recommend topping the night off with any of their yummy gelatos too!

I don't know what these people on Yelp are thinking... Simply put, A Mano is A Mazing! Thats the thing about Yelp that bothers me ( besides the fact that they might filter your review if they don't like what you say, or if you don't write enough reviews)  that people who have no clue write bad reviews for great places... Don't write anything if You don't know what your talking about:) I have been to Amanos twice and have had excellent food and service both times. I would go back tomorrow but it's 45 minutes from my home so It's a bit of a trip to get there. But I would go again because it's worth it. I am the most particular patron on the planet! I know good Italian food so trust me order the Rosettas, the arugula and the pear gorgonzola walnut pizzas. You will thank me. Yelp, you better not filter this  like you do to most other reviews.

Best gluten-free pizza I've ever had!  I had the gluten-free margherita with salami, and my husband had the traditional crust, margherita with ham. They are certified as true Neopolitan pizza, and it tastes awesome. The service was friendly, too, and they let us know about their BOGO offer (now only on Mondays and Tuesdays).  One of their main pizza makers left to go to Keste in NYC, but we both liked this place better than Keste. I can't wait to go back!

Oh my goodness.  New Jersey Monthly does not lie about the best pizza--at least not when it comes to this place.  I have had many versions of Neapolitan pizza and this one tops the list.  We had the A Mano, topped with arugula, prosciutto and a bunch of incredibly tasty, authentic Italian cheeses.  Our four cheese pizza was also topped with some of the best cheese I've ever eaten, combined and cooked on a pillow-y crust.  This pizza made up for the fact that Ridgewood has literally no parking on Saturday night.

Some of the best pizza!The owner and staff are super nice, and they know their product.  The food and surroundings are completely authentic to Naples.  The pizza blows you away.  The grilled artichokes complimented by the spinach and parmesan, is great.  Top it off with nutella pizza and port... and you're ready to roll yourself down the hill to your coatal rental in Amalfi.CHEERS!
